Why this exists
The all-in-one workspace category has been waiting for someone to take it seriously since Notion's launch in 2016. Most review sites treat it as a sub-genre of project management; we treat it as its own category, with its own evaluation criteria and its own buyer profile.
The buyer for an all-in-one workspace isn't picking a PM tool. They're picking the home for their thinking — work, ideas, decisions, references, all of it. That deserves more careful review than "ranked by affiliate revenue, refreshed annually".
Our principles
- The editor is the product. A workspace lives or dies by how its block-based editor feels under fast typing. We grade it like a writer would.
- The six-surface test is non-negotiable. "All-in-one" means all six (tasks, notes, meetings, ideas, decisions, contacts). Tools that ace two and limp through the others are not all-in-one.
- The data is yours. A workspace that holds your second brain in someone else's cloud, in a jurisdiction you don't trust, is making a long-term bet on the vendor's behalf. We weight this.
- AI is a feature, not a product. An AI-first workspace that fails the six-surface test is still failing — AI doesn't excuse missing fundamentals.
